The voltage in the Philippines is 220/60hz. The plugs are the same two prong types used in the United States. You will need a hair dryer with a 220 switch. Many modern hair dryers have this feature. If yours does not, 110/220 power adapter can be purchased for $15-$20 in most any store that sells appliances. Read the label carefully before you invest in a converter though. Many converters only work with high wattage output devices like hair dryers so attempting to power items with smaller power requirements may not be possible.
If you take a camcorder you will need to check the battery charger to see if it is capable of dealing with the voltage. Many chargers such as the one supplied with the Sharp ViewCam automatically adjust themselves to the power supply provided.
Beta tape recorders still seem to be a popular video format in the Philippines. Rental stores are rampant in neighborhoods.
